Stay-at-home
mom turned entrepreneur Michelle Pammenter
started her company after designing a blankie
for her baby. That was the first of many
products for JellyBean Garment Company Limited
and the beginning of distribution across
Canada and into the US.
A
year after she started, Michelle bought
out her main competitor in BC. This expanded
her client base, added 2 existing products
to the line and substantially increased
market share, putting JellyBean on a fast
track to growth.

Before
Michelle started her company, she worked
in the computer sales industry but had no
real business experience. She's learned
through her mistakes, and like many entrepreneurs,
paid for her lessons on more than one occasion.
|
That
experience has enabled Michelle to fine
tune her expectations of suppliers and employees
alike. And there's a system for everything.
In addition to local manufacturers, some
of JellyBean's product is made in China.
It's less expensive, but involves big risk
because you don't know your supplier, you
have to pay up front without a guarantee
of delivery or quality, and there are large
shipping costs. So far however, the outcome
has exceeded her expectations.

Michelle
works long hours, but enjoys spending time
with her two young children, biking, and
going out with friends.
