How does a business get started? Take one consultant on one plane ride too many (Adriene Godbout), add in one dashing designer (Rene' Bourgeois) and what do you have? A place in the country, a corporate world in the past and Bourgeois Frames, a company valued by hundreds of clients.

Bourgeois Frames thought they'd have to do a lot of advertising to attract clients to their location a half hour drive from Moncton New Brunswick. They were still unpacking when a client walked in the shop and placed an order. It was their first of many.

Bourgeois Frames uses Canadian sources for the metal components of frames, which they find is has been more stable in price than the US sources a lot of other frame shops use.

Part of the company's cost performance comes from using the latest in technology and from working at home.

Along with the local business, Bourgeois Frames has a built in export market with vacationing US clients who bring paintings to them for framing. Between the price and the exchange, it's a heck of a deal.

The US market may not have been part of the sixty page business plan Adriene wrote to start the business and access capital, but it certainly adds to the bottom line.

Along with starting a new business, Adriene is also starting a family. There won't be any shortage of frames for the baby pictures, that's for sure!
