The technology Robin repurposed was originally used in the construction industry to measure heat loss in buildings roofs.

Robin's innovative use of the camera was based on research conducted in Canada during the 1970's for a similar application. Her equine sports therapy activities were the perfect match for the camera's abilities.

Alberta is home to almost one third of the approximately 950000 horses in Canada.

Robin's aim was to offer clients a cost effective way to assess horse injuries and to sell the camera to other practitioners. Accessing this market requires a good track record for the product backed with solid research. Proving new technology or even repurposed technology takes time.

Equi-Scan is still awaiting official endorsement of the camera's capabilities from the veterinary industry. In the meantime, Robin updates and improves the camera as new technology becomes available.

Across Canada, horse related activities provide direct employment for more than 470,000 people.

Diversification and expansion of their sport therapy services has benefited Equi-scan's bottom line. Robin's also augmented her business experience with a course in corporate mentoring, business management and marketing. All that and three children makes for quite a ride!
