Ken Krivoshein needed a shed to store his motorcycle. After checking out the available shed models he decided to build his own. So began ShedTech.

One person saw the shed and asked for one, then another, then another. He's now building/selling 15-20 sheds a month for $899.00 - $1,399.00 and up to $1,799.00 with major options.

A ShedTech shed looks like a small house. It has a roof overhang, aluminum facade and vented soffets, a door with barrel bolt and padlock ability, 16 standard colours for siding and 40 custom colours.

Customers can add a window, get a 6 panel steel door upgrade, raise walls an additional five inches, there's even a roll up 4-5 foot wide roll up door available for commercial purposes.

Along with a great looking unique product, Ken advises customers on shed location, design and city bylaws related to shed placement.

The sheds are designed for minimal cutting, waste and labour costs. Ken buys in bulk to save money and have all materials on-site, thereby minimizing travel time to access materials. Because lumber is a commodity, Ken tries to time his purchases based on market prices.

The sheds are pre-fabricated then assembled on-site, adding shingles and siding that matches the house.

ShedTech just moved from Ken's backyard to two 1,500 square foot warehouse bays. One bay is for manufacturing and the other is used to displays 3 different sheds so customers can see "all the options". Ken uses one of the sheds as an office and intends to have future staff do the same. Ken would like to manufacture an ever-increasing number of sheds year round and diversify his market base, expanding on the commercial side.
