ROCKET FUEL - LED (30 second commercial)
Rocket Fuel - LED (Local Economic Development) is designed
to provide a comprehensive overview of how, why, and where you can enhance
your local economy. The course provides brief glimpses of the approaches,
processes, strategies, and tools that can be used to analyze and stimulate
your local economy.
The overriding point of view of this program is that enhancing your local
economy requires an "entrepreneurial" approach. This means successful
participants will need to show the same "get up and go" and
perseverance of an entrepreneur and that your activities will need to
be "sustainable" over the longer term.
While this course is useful to communities of all sizes, it does focus
more on addressing the challenges faced by medium (less than 50,000 population)
and small communities outside the immediate shadow of larger cities.
A number of sample cases and tools are provided to help learners become
familiar with how to start analyzing their local economy and how to implement
the strategies they plan. However, the course does not presume to offer
a complete resource for this purpose. Local economic interventions are
very in-depth processes that require facilitation, expertise, time, and
a great deal of input and hard work.
Ideally, by completing this course and the exercises within it, you will
generate economic development information about your community and will
have enough knowledge to start the process of enhancing your local economy.
