Georgi
Georgiev is a former sculptor in British
Columbia created an international market
for his hand built cycles for disabled riders.
He's also built the fastest human powered
vehicle in the world, clocked at eighty
one miles an hour. That's one hundred and
twenty eight kilometres an hour!

There
are 2.2 million noninstitutionalized people
using wheelchairs in the United States alone.
Most
people go into business with the goal of
making money. Georgi and Andrea Georgviev's
first priority in business is helping people.
And they've established a profitable business
doing exactly that.
The
company grosses approximately 300 thousand
Canadian dollars a year, but there're a
lot of costs involved.

The
bikes are really cool and completely hand
made. Some parts are built right from scratch.
Other parts, like gears and wheels are bought
in pieces and assembled according to Yurgi's
design specifications.
There
are about a billion bicycles in the world,
twice as many as motorcars.
Varna's
investment in speed has certainly paid off
with an international reputation for quality.
This growing market helps balance the seasonal
aspect of cycle sales. Summer is always
happening somewhere in the world, and that's
when people like to buy cycles.

The
high profile racing coverage in magazines,
television and the Internet saves Yurgi
and Andrea a lot of money in advertising.
The coverage may focus on their high speed
activities, but it trickles down to the
hand cycles.
